In layman’s terminology, high performance vehicles manufactured between 1964 and 1975 with powerful engines (muscle) mainly American and Australian models, are termed as Classic Muscle Cars. Muscle cars were generally built for street use and in some cases for racing purpose. Mustang, Challenger, Road Runners are a few all time favorites. Some of the best Dodge cars for sale include Dodge Dart 413 (1962), Dodge 426 Hemi (1964), Dodge Coronet R/T Hemi (1967) and Challenger R/T440 (1970).
“Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder” is very true for muscle car owners, for these cars are not very attractive, characterized by large tires, large displacement V-8s and dual exhausts. Never the less, craze for old timer muscle cars have led many manufacturers to cash in on this new craze by reintroducing the old models. Chrysler is the first with PT Cruiser followed by Ford with Mustang and many more to be launched in the coming year.
To get the best deal at a car auction, a few guidelines need to be followed.
Hasty decision making should be avoided. Homework down beforehand is always beneficial. It is wise to know specific features of the various classic muscle cars meticulously, its desirability before finalizing the deal. Thoroughly inspect the muscle car to be purchased. Look out for any defects the car may possess internally as well as externally. Drive the car. This helps in ascertaining the state of the engine. A proper look at the transmission fluid is a must: it must be clear not colored. Take an opportunity to physically inspect as many classic cars offered for sale as possible before the commencement of the auction. Knowing the various activities that take place in a car auction is a must. If not conversant, do take along someone who is well versed in this matter.
No matter, however perfect condition the muscle car may be, the desire for improvement by restoration is always there. Further, uncertainty regarding the best place to get muscle car restored is always at the back of the owner’s mind. There are quite a number of dealers, who have taken up to this challenge and provide one stop service, be it mechanical, painting or body work. Few even go to the extent of documentation of the entire process the muscle car goes through, emailing the progress on weekly basis.
Flabbergasted; need not. For the proud owner of muscle car, it is just not another car. It is a precious possession which has a history of its own.
